AMH Test in Korea: Cost, Results & What Your Ovarian Reserve Means
What AMH can — and can't — tell you about fertility
The AMH test has become a popular way for women to learn about their fertility. It's a simple blood test, widely available in Korea. But what does it really tell you — and what doesn't it? Here's a clear guide.

What Is AMH?
Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is produced by small follicles in the ovaries. The level reflects how many eggs remain — your ovarian reserve.
How the Test Works
AMH is measured with a blood sample. It can usually be taken on any day of your cycle. Hormonal contraception may lower AMH somewhat, so tell your doctor if you're using it.
What AMH Can Tell You
- An estimate of your remaining egg supply compared with others your age
- How you might respond to fertility medications in IVF
- Clues about conditions such as PCOS, where AMH is often high
What AMH Can't Tell You
- Whether you can get pregnant naturally right now
- The quality of your eggs
- Exactly when you'll reach menopause
Many women with low AMH still conceive naturally, especially at younger ages.
Understanding Your Results
AMH naturally declines with age. Your doctor will interpret your level in the context of your age, ultrasound findings (such as antral follicle count) and other hormone tests. A single number shouldn't be read in isolation.
Approximate Cost in Korea
An AMH test is often paid out of pocket when done for planning purposes. As a rough guide, it may cost around ₩50,000–100,000 at a clinic, plus a consultation fee. Ask the clinic for exact pricing.
Who Might Consider Testing?
- Women planning to delay pregnancy
- Those considering egg freezing
- Women with irregular cycles or suspected PCOS
- Those having difficulty conceiving
